Here in Alberta, Canada we have a thriving economy, but that is not the case south of the border. Many American States are struggling with high unemployment rates and I’m sure that many father’s are considering a change in career as the employment scene shifts rapidly. My step-father pursued retraining in the field of information technology (IT) after he married my mother. He is now gainfully employed and greatly enjoys working in the computer industry. Computers and technology are with us to stay and the industry experiences continual growth. Cisco provides discussion boards for those seeking to learn more about training for the IT industry.  Discussions include career opportunities after training, various routes to pursue training and achieve goals and more.  A great place for those just starting to learn more about their options.  Cisco also offers a limited number of positions in an intern program for qualified applicants.

Retraining in any field comes with challenges, particularly after being out of school for an extended period of time.  However, in the field of IT where specialized skills are required, up-to-date training is essential in securing a job position.  With diligence, perserverance and faith all obstacles can be overcome!
