Cutting Out Dairy
Well, little baby Sarah’s intestinal problems re: chronic baby diarrhea haven’t resolved themselves so it’s time for me to cut out dairy from my diet and see if that helps. She’s 5 months old, entirely breastfed, so it must be something in the milk.
Anyone have a good meal plan that’s gluten free/corn free/dairy free? Heh. Menu planning is NOT my forte, but something must be done! The rest of the family is still eating dairy…I’m the only one suffering here…I love dairy! Cheese…ice cream…milk…!!! I long for you!
Anything for the baby though!

I would highly suggest switching to goat milk. Our family has done this as after discovering in 2007 that that baby was allergic to dairy, we discovered we all are allergic to dairy (it’s just that some of us have more severe reactions). Using goat milk has allowed us to still enjoy what we love (homemade goat milk ice-cream!). I tried rice milk (hated the taste, although okay in baking) and soy milk (terrible for my hormones) and goat milk is the best. Cheese has been the hardest thing to adjust to as all goat cheese is expensive and the cheaper the goat cheese, the worse the taste! The only good goat cheese I have had my parents bought at a gourmet cheese shop (we definitely can’t fit that in our budget!). But, we have to remember that this is only for a season. As the kids get older, we allow some dairy in the diet (i.e. cheese). I am back to avoiding it as we have twins that are nursing, but when they wean, I will eat some cheese!
Thanks Darcy! Have you ever tried raw milk for your family? We have cows that we’ve milked in the past, and plan to start milking next Spring after the next batch of calves. We don’t do soy either due to hormonal issues
