Great review, Jennifer. I had a similar reaction to the end as you did, but I chalked it up to the book being rushed. Anyway, you’ve done an excellent job letting your visitors know what the book was about and giving your balanced reaction to it. I’m glad you took part in this tour.

Possibly because I have a wildly speculative brain, I didn’t find the ending too out-there — actually, I like the way it pulled together all the ages of mankind and says “There’s nothing new under the sun.” We’re not God now with our genetic know-how and abilities, any more than we were before the Flood or at the Tower of Babel or any other time. I do agree with your comments that it was investment in the characters that kept pulling you through the story. Thanks for your review!

I’m with you on the believability of the last part of the book. It felt like “something out of left field” — no real foreshadowing, except for vague stuff about archeology and Cameron’s past that just didn’t seem to fit together.

However, I enjoyed the book, and would recommend it to anyone interested in suspense and/or science fiction.
