Generally speaking, we encourage educating children at home throughout the entirety of their education. However, if God were to strongly call our children to a career requiring an out of the home college education, we’d certainly follow His leading. Our children are still small, but many families with young children also have young adults preparing to enter college.

As parents we’re naturally concerned with the well-being of our dear ones, and want to prepare them adequately for their time away from us. Sears CampusReady makes this job easier for parents. When children are busy studying it’s often too difficult to work full-time in addition to a full course load, compounding the difficulties of completing their education. We’re all familiar with the stories of endless rounds of mac ‘n cheese, cold showers etc. that students endure to save money, and as parents it’s only natural to want to help. Sears re-loadable gift cards can be purchased at any Sears store, and reloaded online to provide for your children’s financial needs (cards an be used at Kmart and Sears).

CampusReady on Facebook is a playful facebook application that college students can use to build wish-lists of necessary supplies as they strike out on their own, have fun decorating a mock dorm room online, and complete a room mate compatibility quiz. The dorm room decorator is sort of fun (though no college student will have near the flexibility the application presents), just the sort of thing my six-year-old loves. I can picture her playing with it as a young adult as well, she adores decorating.

Honestly, it saddens me to picture the departure of my little dears from the nest. Thankfully we have many years ahead of us before the prospect looms large before us!
