It's funny you ask. I was reading The Kingdom Strikes Back to my kids the other day and my husband asked why I kept using the name Yahweh. He thought it was odd. I was like, well it is His name. I'm more comfortable with God for the Father and I like the title Christ for Jesus. I use the name Lord a lot, too. I actually took Hebrew in college and was really into it for a while. I already knew German so I even studied Yiddish. I had read the Thoene books on World War II and Isreale becoming a nation and also Herman Wouk's books Winds of War and War and Remembrance. I loved Hebrew and would like to study it again. However, since I speak English I like to use the English terms. I have a Martin Luther translation of Die Bibel and so in it God is Gott. I also did a Precept Bible study once on the names of God called Lord I want to know you. It was really cool and I hope to have my ladie's Bible study go through it next year.

I do feel comfortable either original or common name of God. But if I am into prayer or a special time where I sit down and just try to reflect, I would love to call unto God the name that I used to. Just like calling an Old friend. The important thing is the condition of our hearts towards God.
