Adult Acne Woes
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Dr Dermal. All opinions are 100% mine.
I know I’m not the only one out there who suffers from adult acne. Ever since adolescence it’s been a recurring theme, it’s best when I’m pregnant and the first year of breastfeeding (I think it’s hormonally triggered). Sometimes it feels a bit embarassing to be getting wrinkles and have pimples right on top of them!
Now, I’ve never tried Dr. Dermal but they are a NATURAL acne product with clinical research behind them, and claim to be one of the best acne products available. Right now they’re giving away 500 starter kits of their products for the price of shipping in a limited giveaway.
I love that it’s natural and therefore has no side effects (we’re all about natural solutions in our family). So whether you or one of your children suffers from skin eruptions, it might be worth your while to check out this product line. Trying is believing after all.
You should also look them up on twitter and facebook, as they pick one fan or follower each month to receive a month worth of Dr. Dermal products for free as well!

Hi, Jennifer,
I’ve always had adult acne until about 18 months ago. I’ll briefly tell my story…our family of 4 suffered with horrible hands, especially in the winter, due to using the wrong kinds of soaps. We had given up anti-bacterial soaps a few years ago, but still had awful, cracked, and bleeding hands in the winters, which are mild here in Oregon. Anyway, a friend suggested using castile soap after telling us that almost all “soaps”these days are actually detergents, so we switched to Trader Joe’s brand of castile soap – cheapest we could find. It really worked on our hands – no more cracking and bleeding year-round!
Later, at Trader Joe’s, I found another product for the face: “Thoroughly Clean Face Wash” by Desert Essence. It is organic castile soap with tea tree oil and awapuhi and is 100% vegan. I wanted a cheaper source, though, so I found that our region’s private food co-op that I normally purchased foods and other products from also sold this face wash. The 8 fl. oz. was around $6-7, and the very large refill bottle was only a couple dollars more! So, I began using that. I had such immediate results, within a week or two, that I began having my 11-year-old daughter use it once a day as well, as she was just starting to begin having a few pimples now and then. It has worked wonders with her even though she has extremely sensitive skin (like my husband).
We are all using this now, and because it is very “watery” in consistency, a large refill bottle lasts us a long time, even with three of us using it right now.
I would think our results are just coincidental, but I’ve given samples of it to several friends, and they’ve all had the same results! We are getting probably one of the least expensive facial cleansers available, especially since the large bottle lasts so long, and it really is working well!
It has a stronger tea tree oil smell, so some people think at first that this is a harsh product to be using on their faces…but it is actually very, very mild and gentle. We are sold on it! I pray that it never becomes unavailable to purchase, although I do have a friend who makes her own liquid castile soap in her crockpot successfully, and I could always do that and add some tea tree oil.
Just wanted to suggest this product since it’s very inexpensive when using the refill size (we initially purchased two small sized pump bottles of the original product so we could have two smaller bottles – one in each shower.
Hope that helps! I really encourage many of my friends to consider using Thoroughly Clean Face Wash, because it really works at an inexpensive price! Maybe I should do a posting about it on my blog!

Thanks for sharing this, I actually ordered my free kit! Part of me is hoping though that I don’t like it, just because $100 a month on skin care is out of budget. lol. I am actually a little curious about the cleanser that Julieanne used..
Julieanne, did you use the cleanser by itself? Or did you also use a toner and/or any type of mask? Also, if you don’t mind me asking, what type of moisturizer did you use? I’m very intrigued, considering you had such wonderful results! I’ve had acne since I was a teenager as well, and nothing helps at all, even during pregnancy! lol.
Thanks for any input you may have, and thanks to both of you for sharing!
Lori
Let us know how it works Lori! Julieanne, my acne is the large, cystic type (which is one reason I suspect it’s hormonal), and it has been really concentrated on the top of my shoulders lately. Do you think this wash might work there? I’ll keep an eye out for it – it’s certainly affordable!
I will Jennifer!
Although, I think I’m going to see tomorrow if the grocery store we use (Sunflower Market) carries the Thoroughly Clean Face Wash. I want to try that for a bit before I try the Dr. Dermal’s, that way if I find that it works, at least I can continue using it without breaking the bank.
