All Better!

Thank you all so much for your caring prayers and concern!  I am feeling so much better!  My fever actually broke the night after I sent out my prayer request – God hears and answers prayers!  Thank you all ever so much!!

Promo Items…Worth It or Not?

Even though our family has been involved in a fairly diverse spectrum of businesses, we’ve never been ones to invest heavily in promotional items for our enterprises.  One time I did buy some wooden pencils in a mixed assortment of colors with a business name on it…I think I still have some around here somewhere too.  Too bad they were rather poor quality!

We’ve never had a business that fit into the market that would appreciate a branded ceramic mug (hey, wait…I LOVE ceramic mugs, I LOVE coffee, and I am my market…hmm…)  Maybe I just don’t want to pay the huge shipping to us in Canada; that sounds more plausible.

In any case, I’ve never had a rip-roaring success with any kind of promotional item, so I remain unconvinced that they are really useful.  Even though our clients are homeschoolers I don’t think I’d want to invest in Amsterdam personalized pens either, because we ALL know how easy it is to lose pens when you’re homeschooling and have a handful of children!

Sick…Ugh

Well, it’s very sad, but it’s true.  I’ve been sick for the past two days with flu-like symptoms.  I have a breast infection so I’ve been cycling between periods of chills and periods of sweating.  I’m pretty weak and am thankful to have Larry here at home to help tend our little ones.  I’ve been trying to rest and nap today and have been successful at catching a few short sleeping periods while the children have been watching videos with their Daddy.

If you feel led to pray, I’d greatly appreciate it.

VistaPrint Coupon Codes

Vistaprint is well-known online as a great source for micro-businesses or enterprises that are just getting started.  Their offers of free business cards is pretty well known, but there are also Vistaprint coupon codes that you can use for much more than free business cards.

There are Vistaprint free shipping codes and many other Vistaprint coupons available online.  Vistaprint coupons are actually highly in demand in the small business community.  I remember being on various yahoo groups oriented towards moms in business where sharing the latest and greatest vistaprint coupon codes available was par for the course.  People would even ask for specific coupon codes for items they wanted to purchase from VistaPrint.

With such a wide range if products available, you can find coupons for most printed products from VistaPrint: magnets, holiday cards, calendars, t-shirts, rubber stamps, and much more.  I think one of the things that makes this company so popular is their do-it-yourself-online approach to company branding.  You can pick from templates, easily add in text, upload your own files etc. and have a finished product in a very short time.

I haven’t ever purchased from them, but I’ll admit that I have played with their online business card designer…just for fun.  (Those free cards are so tempting…)

What a Snowy Winter!

We have had an amazing amount of snow this past month!  I think it has been at least 3 feet of snow just this past month!  Thankfully we’ve had a few warm days to knock some height off the HUGE piles of snow (you should see them in the city where they’ve graded the roads and pushed the snow up on the sides of the roads.)

Larry has been busy snowblowing and snowblowing.  And chopping wood and chopping wood.  Albertan winters are SO long!

Tabasco, Cemented In My Memory

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TABASCO® Original Red. All opinions are 100% mine.

Memory is a funny thing – especially mind. It is filled with large chronological gaps interspersed with crystal clear vignettes preserved with unbelievable clarity. One of my crisp and clear memories from my childhood involves TABASCO® Original Red and my father.

He was always a big fan of this original hot sauce – the original sauce dating all the way back to 1868. My next sister down and I were always keen to win my father's approval and that was how the hot sauce wars started. She would compete with me as to how much sauce she could handle and how much she liked it. Her eyes would be watering but she would hang in there. I couldn't handle it back then, but I'm now a big fan of hot sauce myself, and now that she is an adult she also has an appetite for spicy food!

With the Super Bowl coming up you might want to check out ways to incorporate TABASCO into your own family memories. This versatile, flavor enhancing sauce is "So Much More Than Hot" and can easily be integrated into your Game-Day Party Menu, and whether you add it to your sauce when you cook it, or splash it on top, it is sure to make your Pizza Perfected.

Personally, I love hot sauce on my pasta, an unconventional use perhaps but oh so tasty!

Twitter Overload!

If you have been waiting for me to follow you back, please hang in there!  For some reason I am totally overloaded with twitter people following me, and the new twitter is SO SO terribly slow for dial-up people!  In any case, do hang in there.  Periodically I am able to plow through all of those twitter requests and follow back those who interest me :) .

Moving For People Who DON’T Like to Drive

I don’t know if you’re like me, but I DO NOT feel comfortable driving very large trucks.  Our truck is 23″ long, which is pretty big, but have you seen the size of those moving trucks?  I’ve always had someone else drive those big beasts when I was doing a move.  Apparently there is a moving service that does just this.  You pack up your things, someone comes and drives your belongings over to your new home, you unload your things and they drive away.

Basically, you do it all – they drive.upack is a moving service that does this. It’s cheaper than full-service moving companies and takes out the stress of driving that big truck by yourself!

Our Last Midwife Visit

We had our last midwife visit yesterday (Anne was six-weeks old exactly on Wednesday.)  She now weighs 13 lbs. 13 oz. and is doing great.  She is a little bit fussy at night time, but other than that is a very happy baby.  We are all absolutely in love with her, and my oldest STILL asks to change her diapers!  Everything checked out well wit me too, and my midwife’s scale confirmed that I do weigh what I did before I got pregnant!  Yay!  I still need to lose some weight, but I’m glad that I don’t have EXTRA to lose, I’m just back where I started before this pregnancy.  Most importantly, my mood is holding steady (though I can feel a wee bit stir crazy after nursing for 10 hours/day!)

Sunrooms Charlotte NC

When you live in Central Alberta, North Carolina seems like the South.  The deep south.  It is so much warmer there that there just isn’t really any sense in comparing the climates from here to there!  When I see pictures of rooms with a lot glass on sunroom walls it does make me a bit chilly though.  No matter how disparate the weather however, one thing is certain – there are some very lovely sunrooms and patio enclosures that will soon be going up around Charlotte, NC.

Apparently technological advances in glass production have also allowed for the development of low E coatings that help to prevent furniture fading.  I wish we had windows like that in our living room, because I have some children’s books by the window that have faded QUITE a bit in the last few years that they’ve lived there.

I know we get readers from all over North America on this blog (I don’t think we have many international readers, mostly US and Canadian), so if your summer renovation plans include adding on Sunrooms Charlotte NC or Patio Enclosures Charlotte NC, you might want to check out this website for design ideas and you might even decide to work with this vendor who is expanding into the Charlotte, NC area.

Welcome!
