Look at Snowball, all grown up! Snowball is the orange kitten, and she’s around 5 months old now. Here she is with her one of her little half-sisters. She has adopted this one as a surrogate mama, she loves to cuddle and sleep with her. Our kittens are still being fed and cuddled on by their real Mama cat, Patches, but Snowball just adores this little one! She has a particular fondness for this kitten, but also bathes and cleans up after the other two. What a great big sister!

Kaelynn always loves the orange tabby kittens the best. Since our new batch of kittens has arrived, Snowball - almost 5 months old has been shoved aside. Here is Kaelynn’s new protege - Sunshine. Clinging to the possibility that some day, she’ll have a kitten that sits on her shoulder - just like Snowball in the Mandie books, she’s still in training mode.
As you can see, the training process has been rough for both of them. Sunshine looks terribly frightened, and Kaelynn, well she’s got some battle wounds. Still, the training pushes on! One day…one day…

Children can sleep comfortably anywhere it would seem. This is my 2 year olds favourite napping spot recently. She just sacks right out with her head on the VERY lightly padded rocking chair arm. That’s not even the proper arm rest padding she’s sleeping in, that has slipped down due to the weight of the books in the side pouch of my nursing chair. I just had to share, because - of course - I think this is adorable! Yesterday she fell asleep in the middle of the hardwood kitchen floor.
Are there any unusual places your children fall to sleep?

We’ve finally had our first snow of the year (not that we were particularly excited to receive it). Many years the first snow arrives in October, so we have been blessed with a long, mellow fall for this climate. DH was hoping to get the porch finished before snow flew, he’s making good progress, but has a way to go. He’ll just keep soldiering on in the white fluffy stuff. It’s also foggy this morning, but should be clearing this afternoon. I hope so, since we have to drive into the city today.

It’s been awhile since we’ve had a fresh photo up! This one is of Sarah, she just turned 4 months old the other day, with one of our new kittens, a few weeks old. She really loves these little cats, and she’s learned how to use her hands, a dangerous combination.
She drools on them, pets them, grabs their ears with her hands, and they don’t seem to mind! Can’t ask for more than that in a potential pet. Umm….do you need a kitten? We have three!

I’ve been talking to family about doing this for awhile, it’s so cute. Guess which baby is which! Heehee!

These are pictures of my three daughters as babies. Different facial expressions and slightly different ages, but they all look so alike. There are some differences between them though. What cuties :).

My picure of the kittens yesterday wasn’t all that great, but Mamma cat left the box to go outside for a minute, and I sneaked a shot! Look at the little orange one - she’s still wet! One of the dark ones is more tabby than the other, as you can clearly see. Patches is doing a GREAT job, way to go Mamma cat!

All three of them are girls :O! What are we going to do?! Kaelynn is forbidding us to sell/giveaway any of them…we’ll have to see about that. Between Patches, Snowball (in a few months she’ll be fertile) and these three girls we could have a cat explosion on our hands! Oh!

Here’s our tiniest princess in her new Bumbo chair. We picked this up at the Toys ‘R Us the last time we were in the Big City. Sarah (3 months old) is our happiest baby in terms of sitting by herself for entertainment purposes. She likes to be a part of the action and watch her big sisters playing together. Doesn’t she look so small and so big at the same time?

Fall is here! We don’t have the big beautiful hardwoods that they do in Eastern Canada, like in Ontario. But here’s what our little bit (60 acres or so) of ‘bush’ looks like in the Fall.

A few days ago we saw a HUGE crane migration heading south. There were dozens of flocks of cranes flying by - I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of birds numbered in the thousands. Some flew directly over our house, some went West of us, and some went East of us. We live near a crane migration route, and until we moved here I’d never seen cranes migrating.
Winter is on it’s way.

Rose will finally let me get that hair out of her face! Her bangs have been getting SO long! But now I can do one of those silly ponytails on top of the head to keep her hair up away from her face. I always think these look so silly on little girls, but you know, I like being able to see Rosie’s face! She’s always so excited for picture taking, isn’t she?
