Tragus Rings – Yay or Nay?

Written on 08/28/2010   By   in Uncategorized

Body piercing can be a pretty controversial topic amongst more conservative Christians (such as our family.)  Personally, I did have my ears pierced as a child, and after they grew in a few other times besides!  Now the holes won’t grow in, and I’m stuck with them, but I don’t wear jewelry in them.

We won’t be getting our girls pierced – that’s something they’ll need to do themselves once they are out on their own – it’s incredibly painful dealing with infections/maintenance etc. and I don’t want the struggle.  Still piercings that involve eye brow rings, tragus rings, and monroe rings (upper lip, off to one side like a beauty mark) are becoming fairly popular.

Where you once would never see unusual piercing, now even employees in highly visible customer service/service industry positions sport them. What do you think? I think it’s possible to do tastefully, and there is some cute jewelry, but I still think a HUGE number of piercings can look far too overdone and ‘off’.

Fresh Milk!

Though we’ve had cows for many years we go through periods where we aren’t milking, due to the cycle our cows are in or the amount of time and determination we have!  Right now we ARE milking, a cow that is my daughter Kaelynn’s (she received her from us as a calf), her name is Alpha :) .  In any case, she just started milking a week or so ago and is shaping up to be a great little milker, nice temperament.  Yesterday we had enough skim milk after separating to make fresh pot cheese and I got my oldest daughter to help – she can’t wait to make it again! (It’s SO easy ladies, maybe I’ll post instructions in a bit!)

In any case, it’s GOOD to have our own dairy products again.  Not enough cream saved up for butter yet (Dexter’s aren’t super high-producers) but when that day comes, yummy, yummy!

Moving Blankets Make the Moving Smooth

When our family moves we look a bit like the Beverly Hillbillies.  You know, our old pick-up is loaded to the gunwhales.  Sometimes we have our livestock hauling contraption built from plywood on the back, sometimes we don’t, we just load up the back and away we go.  (I normally sit in the front seat though and not on top of everything in a rocking chair.)

Most people want to do things a bit fancier though with moving blankets, moving pads, and furniture blankets, and I suppose that’s okay too ;).  Getting some padding DOES reduce scratches and dings for sure!

Get Your Free Butt Paste Here!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. All opinions are 100% mine.

When our first daughter was born we went through a LOT of different diapering ointments. One that wasn’t available at that time wasBoudreaux’s Butt Paste, formulated by a pharmacist with the direction of a pediatrician to help out with effective diaper rash care.

Diaper rash, I know we’ve all battled it at one time or another. One of the main ingredients in Boudreaux’s is zinc oxide, around 16%. If you’re familiar with mineral makeup at all, zinc oxide is one of the compounds responsible for the protective, nourishing properties of minerals for the skin, and it works this way on baby bums too. Zinc oxide is a soothing, anti-inflammatory, and definitely worth giving a try. There are other ingredients as well, like peruvian balsam. Apparently it smells good, cleans up easily (have you ever had zinc preparations that are terrible to wipe off of babies bum at changes?), comes in many sizes, has been featured all over national television, and is easy to find nation-wide.

Whew. Worth giving a try? You can get your free sample of Butt Paste by sending them a 6″ x 9″ SASE (around $1.69), so you can try it for yourself on any rashy baby bottoms you have handy before investing in a full size.
